REMOTE LEARNING CENTER & AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
COVID-19 has had an impact on everyone; even our children! As parents and children prepare for this highly unique and uncertain academic school year, it is important to know what resources are available to you in efforts of maintaining safety balanced with some semblance of stability. Here at Martial Way, we have accepted the challenge of adapting to these unprecedented times and rebranding our program accordingly to meet the needs of the children, parents, and community. It is highly probably the DOE and local school districts will adopt the blended learning model consisting of remote learning and in-class learning. We understand this model can be challenging to say the least for working parents who are not afforded the flexibility to be at home to monitor their children for remote learning or be available to have their children picked up from school upon the end of a school day.
The Martial Way Kung-Fu Training Center has been serving the Co-op City and neighboring communities for the past 20 years. Our longevity has been directly attributed to our attention to the quality of our service along with our instinctual ability to adapt to new interests and trends. We are pleased to, once again, adapt to the climate of these times by offering the Martial Way Remote Learning Center & After School Program. This program was decisively created with the needs of parents and the safety of children as our paramount mission.
MORNING ESCORT TO SCHOOL
Are you a working parent? No problem! Parents that are obligated to work may be faced with the challenge of how they will get their kids to school on time if friends and family are not available. We offer early drop-off at our site and will responsibly escort your kids to the Co-op City Educational Park at the time they are scheduled to arrive. Drop-off times will start as early as 7am. Our site will serve as a "waiting area" until they are escorted to school.
FULL DAY REMOTE LEARNING
Parents carry an enormous amount of responsibility. A blended learning model only adds to this responsibility. Remote learning requires oversight and assistance. Allow us to burden that responsibility of overseeing remote schoolwork and deliver individual progress reports on your childs' progress. This option is open to any children that are slated for full remote learning or hybrid blended learning. We offer full-day (8:30am - 2pm) oversight of your child's remote learning needs. Whether it be simple assignments, logging into live feeds, or accessing information online, we are full WiFi enabled with a number of tablets and computers to ensure your child will get their schoolwork and assignments completed. We will be using both our main level and lower level so social distancing will be extremely easy to maintain. Attendance will be incredibly flexible and can be changed from week-to-week. So whether you need one day or five days, we can tailor the program to your needs.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM MADE SIMPLE
Our After School Program will continue to run this year with social distancing and other Covid related adjustments. This program will also be extremely flexible from week-to-week where changes can be made based upon need. Pick-up and escort from school upon dismissal and after school services and activities will be provided as normal. Parents may also elect to combine morning escort services (see above) with this program.
* Pick-up and escort service is limited to the Co-op City Educational Park and services the following schools: PS 178, PS 153

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
May I change my enrollment from week to week based on my needs?
Absolutely! Each enrollment option was carefully engineered to meet the needs of our parents in efforts of providing some semblance of normalcy during these unpredictable times.
If I no longer need the services, may I cancel?
Yes. Enrollment will be on a week-to-week basis. You may cancel at any time.
Will breakfast be served if I select the morning escort service?
No. We will only be providing a socially distant "waiting area" for children until it is time for them to be escorted to school. Parents, however, may provide food or snacks in the morning.
How will my child eat if I select full-day remote learning?
Parents will be required to provide all food and snacks for their children. Food can be stored in our refrigerator and warmed up in our microwaves if necessary.
How will you enforce social distancing in the facility for any of the the programs?
Every child will have their own desk that will be more than 6 feet apart from another child. We will also be limiting the number of children in the program as well as using both of our two levels to seat children.
Will masks be mandatory for the day?
All staff members and children will be required to wear a mask throughout the course of the day with the exception of when they are eating.
Is a COVID-19 test necessary to enroll in the program?
A COVID-19 test is not necessary to enroll in the program, however, a completed questionnaire will be required of all families.
What measures will be taken to keep the children and staff safe?
Aside from social distancing and masks, all children will be temperature scanned upon entry on a daily basis. Children will consistently be educated and asked to sanitize frequently. No tablets or any device will be able to be used by another participant until properly sanitized and wiped. We will also be administering extreme daily sanitation of both floors of the facility.
If I am requesting drop-in services, do I need to complete a registration?
Yes. Anyone who participates in our program must complete a registration and questionnaire.
When is payment due?
Because all enrollment options are week-to-week, payment for services is required on a weekly basis prior to the start of that said week.
If I enroll and pay for service for a week, may I cancel and receive a refund if I no longer need the service?
Cancellation of service for a given week must be made 24 hours prior to the start of service given the limited number of children we may have.
